Ions are atoms that carry an electrical charge, basically having either more protons or electrons than the other.
Ionic Charge = Protons-Electrons
Cations = Ions with positive charge
Anions = Ions with negative charge
Ions are good at conducting electricity.
Ionic bonds are bonds where two (or more) atoms exchange electrons, one wanting electrons, so they take some electrons from another atom that wants to get rid of their electrons so that they can get closer to becoming a noble gas. (Every atom wants to be a noble gas). Ionic bonds are normally stronger than covalent bonds.
Covalent bonds form when two atoms share electrons. When one atom has (a lot) more electronegativity than the other, after a covalent bond is formed, the stronger atom will try to steal the electron(s) away to form a semi ionic bond.
